CRRCG’s director Mr. Darijan Sotirovski attended the prayer service to St. Cyril in the crypt of "St. Clement of Rome" Basilica in Rome
On February 27 (February 14 according to the old style), the day on which the Church commemorates 1155 years since the blessed repose of the Equal-to-the-Apostles all-Slavic enlightener, Saint Cyril of Thessaloniki, His Beatitude the Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia Mr. Mr. Stefan officiated at the Prayer service to St. Cyril, held at his tomb, in the crypt of “St. Clement of Rome” Basilica in Rome.
The Archbishop was assisted by Their Eminences, the Metropolitans: European Mr. Pimen and Tetovo-Gostivar Mr. Josif, accompanied by numerous priests of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archdiocese.
The prayer service was also attended by H. E. Marija Efremova, Macedonian ambassador to the Vatican, H. E. Vesel Memedi, the Macedonian ambassador in Rome, the director of the Commission for relations with religious communities and groups, Mr. Darijan Sotirovski and the professor at the Faculty of Theology "St. Kliment Ohridski" in Skopje and former ambassador to the Vatican, professor Gjoko Gjorgjevski, as well as ambassadors and representatives from the embassies of several countries in the Vatican.
During the visit to Rome and the Vatican, the delegation also visited the Basilica of “St. Maria Velika” (Santa Maria Maggiore), in which the first Liturgy in the Slavic language was celebrated and Church Slavonic liturgical books were consecrated, and the Basilica of ”Santa Prassede”, in which the Seven Apostles lived during their stay in Rome.
The planned meeting with the head of the Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Francis was postponed due to the Pope's health condition.
The delegation had a meeting with Cardinal Kurt Koch, prefect of the Dicastery for promoting church unity.
