For the second time CRRCG, Mountaineering Club "Jelak" from Tetovo and MOC-OA: Orthodox Diocese of Tetovo-Gostivar, on 20. 10. 2019 on the slopes of Suva Gora Mountain organized the mountain- recreational action "Millennium Trail", which was established last year in honor of the 1000th anniversary of the Ohrid Archbishopric.
This year, 105 participants crossed the nine-kilometer-long trail and took part in this action. Participants planted 150 young trees along the trail. The Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups (CRRCG) Mr. Darian Sotirovski also participated in the mountain-recreational action.
- The mountaineering-recreational action started from the village of Blace in Tetovo region, and ended in the village of Volkovija. The trees were planted at two locations near the Church of St. Catherine in Stenche and in the vicinity of Chuka near Volkovia. There were many young people and children, as it was an easy trail.
This action is being organized for the second time, marking the 1000th anniversary of the Ohrid Archbishopric. In the church of "St. Mina" in the village of Volkovia, where the walking ended, Metropolitan of Tetovo and Gostivar Joseph welcomed the participants in this event.
"The path of our Church was like this path, full of uphills and downhills. Our ancestors, our people, and our clergy have passed it before us, so the pages of our history are filled with rich content, as this path is filled with our millennial and older church and cultural heritage: numerous archaeological sites, early Christian temples, newly built churches and monasteries," said Bishop Joseph.
Participants in the Millennium Trail visited the Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in the village of Blace, the Temple of St. Petka, the early Christian basilica in the area of Granitite, the Holy Prophet Elijah, and the newly built Church of St. Catherine. In the village of Volkovia passed "St. Athanasius", "St. George" at the former Volkovia Monastery and "St. Mina", where a table of love was prepared for all participants.
