THE TERRIBLE SKOPJE EARTHQUAKE HAPPENED ON THIS DAY Every July 26, Skopje remembers... 59 years since the catastrophic earthquake that in 20 seconds took 1070 victims and more than 3000 injured, while 65 percent of the buildings were destroyed. Aid arrived from 65 countries around the world. Skopje has become a city of solidarity and togetherness A large number of religious temples and buildings were also damaged in the earthquake.
