Sotirovski - Kalantzis: Let our first meeting contribute to future successful cooperation

Today, the Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups, Mr. Darijan Sotirovski, held an online meeting with his Greek counterpart, Mr. George Kalantzis, Secretary General for Religious Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs of the Hellenic Republic. This is the first meeting of the responsible state officials for religious affairs from both countries.

The meeting was a great opportunity for mutual acquaintance, presentation of the work process of the two institutions and the main goals in 2021, in which we are all still facing the global pandemic crisis.

Director Sotirovski stressed that we need to develop cooperation on several issues of mutual interest, as neighboring countries that face similar regional challenges. The faith, religious traditions and values ​​of our citizens are a motive and an opportunity to promote cooperation that can contribute to strengthening mutual trust.

Secretary General Kalantzis stressed that he welcomes the openness for cooperation and that Greece is a strong supporter of all development processes in our country.

At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on several current issues in both countries, as well as in the region.

The interlocutors assessed the first meeting as very positive and useful, expressing the expectation that it will contribute to future broad cooperation, both between the countries and between the religious communities of the two countries.
