Sotirovski - Sheikh Al Issa: Through open cooperation and mutual acquaintance to a strong global society of progress and peace
On 12.08.2021 the Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups (CRRCG) Mr. Darijan Sotirovski received H.E. Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League together with the official delegation of the renowned pan-Islamic world organization in the Government Hall.
At the meeting, Director Sotirovski introduced the respected guest to the values of Macedonian society, inclusive policies and the democratic environment in which religious freedoms and rights are widely respected. Macedonian social cohesion is largely determined by the inter-religious respect that has existed for centuries. The director pointed out that globally, the abuse of rights and freedoms in democratic conditions, as well as their prevention in non-democratic conditions is equally worrying.
At the meeting was also discussed the global challenges posed by growing religious radicalism. The role that the World Muslim League plays in promoting the original form of moderate Islam, which advocates tolerance, dialogue and cooperation between cultures and religions in the world, is emphasized and welcomed.
Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa welcomed the readiness for cooperation and dialogue, as well as the openness in cooperation with all religious communities in the country, pointing out that peace and diversity are the greatest treasure in modern times.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, by expressing mutual readiness for future cooperation. The meeting was also attended by senior officials of the Muslim World League, Reisul Ulema of the IRC and the National Coordinator for interculturalism Alagjozovski.
